Area and Perimeter

WALT calculate the perimeter and area of regular and irregular shapes.

The Room 2 students designed their own schools using area to calculate the size of classrooms, offices, toilets, gardens, library's, playgrounds etc. They then used grid paper to draw and cut out their rooms and then glued them onto a piece of A2 or A3 paper. After laying their rooms out they needed to use cardboard to create 3D models of their classes. Here they are on the job.

FLY

We have been learning a new game called 'Fly'. If you want to play it yourself all you need is shoes. To set it up you get 10-15 shoes and line them up with around about a meter gap between each shoe. The aim of the game is to run through the shoes but your only allowed to put one step in each gap. Your out if you touch a shoe, if you take more than one step in each gap, if you step on the side of the shoe and if you over-jump a gap. If this happens you step aside and wait till everyone else gets out then you restart. If you make it without making a mistake, you get to pick whatever shoe you want, apart from the first shoe, and move it to make it more difficult for everyone else, but if you make it too hard and your the last one left you need to make it before you can win, a tip is to know your ability so the next time you wont get out.  Here are a few examples...
