Technology Term 2

In Term 2, Room 2 have been very busy working in Hard Tech, Soft Tech, Bio Tech, Cooking and Enviro Tech. Here are some of what they have produced this term.

Logophile

This term we have been learning to develop our vocabulary using logophile activities. Logophile means 'a lover of words' and some of the activities we have learnt to help use become great word collectors are 'Stickman', 'Acrostic Sentences' and our new activity 'Personification Character'. The students need to find four new words a week from the books they are reading and write them down on their logophile bookmarks, including the page they found the word so they can use the sentence to help them understand what the word means. From here the students have to display the words in their logophile books with the meaning of the word, what type of word it is and one of the logophile activities they have learnt. Every word is given a value depending on its difficulty. As a class we have used criteria to identify if the word is worth 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents or 1 dollar. Once their words are valued they are given fake money which is put into their logophile envelope and once the students have reached 10 dollars they are able to exchange their money for a prize. Check out some of our work so far. 

Energy Options

Room 2 have really done well in Energy Options this Term. We have appreciated Mr Maples teaching in all lessons we have taken part in. The students' have learnt some new things about energy and really displayed enjoyment while learning them.
